Concerns over traffic at proposed 1,800 home site near Guildford

Concerns over traffic at proposed 1,800 home site near Guildford

A planning application is expected to be submitted to Guildford Borough Council in 2025.

Sue Hackman, president of the association, told BBC Radio Surrey that members were not opposed to building new homes but were concerned about the impact of additional traffic on the area.

“We hope some of them (the houses) will be suitable for young people who are just starting out on their property journey,” she said.

“I think it’s all about infrastructure. We’re really worried about the impact this will have…because our traffic here is already pretty bad.

“If you come here at peak times, like when schools are closing or when people are coming home from work, it’s really a very difficult situation.”

Ms Hackman said they were keen to hear the proposed solutions.

A spokesperson for Martin Grant Homes said: “Gosden Hill is a site identified by Guildford Borough Council in its Local Plan to provide much-needed homes and facilities to the area.

“Over the past few years we have carefully developed our ideas – together with the council – to create the best possible project.

“During the autumn we held an extensive public consultation on our plans, during which we sought views and comments on how we can create a high quality, sustainable, green and connected community for Guildford. »

They added: “We have appreciated the engagement and suggestions from the community and wider stakeholders.”

Guildford Borough Council has been invited to comment.
