Kilgore Bulldogs coach says loss to Henderson was a ‘wake-up call’

KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) – The Kilgore Bulldogs lost to Henderson on October 4 and have since won six straight.

Kilgore head coach Clint Fuller became the first coach in Kilgore history to post four straight 10-win seasons with the win over Needville last week.

Fuller believes the players he has had over the years deserve all the credit.

“I’m just fortunate that we had a group of good coaches and a group of good players,” Fuller said. “We’ve had some great football players over the last four years, so they deserve all the credit.”

Kilgore beat Vidor in the first round 66-6, then beat Needville 48-14, but Fuller doesn’t think this Bulldog football team has played its best football yet.

“We’re getting better every week. We slipped against Henderson in the district game and I think that was kind of a wake-up call,” Fuller said. “Our play on the field has improved every week and our goal in recent weeks is to maintain the level we are playing at.”

Kilgore will face Navasota in the regional semifinal at Tiger Stadium in Corsicana on Friday.
