River flooding | Minor to moderate flood monitoring for the Belubula River

MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE IN THE FLOOD WATCH AREA FROM SATURDAY Two troughs are extending across New South Wales today. One on the south coast and the other across the midlands. The inland trough persists for several days as the coastal trough moves south over Bass Strait on Saturday. A low pressure system is also forming across Bass Strait on Saturday, bringing even more unsettled weather to southern New South Wales. The inner trough is expected to be pushed offshore as a high pressure system arrives from the west on Sunday and Monday. Watersheds in parts of the southwest ranges are relatively wet. Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected near the inland trough Friday afternoon through Sunday, with locally heavy rainfall likely. There is some degree of uncertainty about the exact location and timing of the heaviest falls. Catchment specific flood warnings will be issued if and when necessary. This weather system could cause minor to moderate flooding in the flood watch area beginning Saturday. Flood classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.
