Drag Race UK: winner of season 6 on a possible return to franchise

The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season six talks about what she said to the runner-up after winning the crown, the need for drag kings in the franchise, and why filming the show was “the happiest I’ve ever summer”.

Warning: sickening spoilers ahead.

Well kids, we did it. The sixth season of Drag racing in the UK finally crowned winnerbaby, and after ten stellar weeks of one of the “the best seasons ever“, Kyran Thrax and his accomplice Suzy have seized the crown, the scepter and more trash bags than she can shake a wig at.

It would be an understatement to say that Kyran brought the competition to life: the 26-year-old caused a sensation in the first week, winning the first two lip-syncs against La Voix after the talent competition to snatch the first badge of the season.

She caught two more for the season Snatch game and an acting challenge, and kept it one hundred for ten weeks before facing The Voice again to lip sync for the crown.

Speaking to PinkNews the day after his victory – and his acceptance of Drag racing in the UKthe very first cash prize (£25.00), mind you – it’s clear this won’t be an ordinary reign.

“It’s trash day forever now.” It’s not just a one-year reign, baby, you’re stuck with me,” Kyran happily tells PinkNews via Zoom, with Suzy holding her brand new jewelry in the background.

“This money and this reign is going to ensure that I put on the biggest and best shows and do the biggest and best things I can do. Because I will work hard. And make a room with trash bags.

Kyran did indeed come to recover, but she had to face tough competition from The Voice; the favorite of the season in terms of badges heading into the finale.

By the end of the season, the two were inseparable and it looks like that will continue in the future.

“It meant absolutely everything to me to be on top with The Voice“, beams Kyran. “I truly love her with all my heart and respect her so much. Experiencing this ride with her was incredible. I cherish her and am very excited about the work we will do together.

For anyone hoping for some behind-the-scenes beef, we’re (not) sorry to disappoint, as Kyran shares that after she and The Voice “were sitting there having panic attacks” during the finale, the message from her rival after the winner was decided was all love.

“She turned to me and said, ‘You did it.’ And then I just said, ‘I love you.’ And then at the end, there’s a little clip of us just holding each other at the end that lasted a few minutes. We couldn’t let go.

Kyran’s favorite never-before-seen moment from the series It also happens to involve The Voiceand performed backstage for the first track. And get ready, because even Kyran admits that it’s possible that a moment “had to be there.”

“We were about to do the parade for the very first episode, and me and The Voice were talking, but then one of the queens asked, ‘What time do we think it is?’ But I didn’t hear anyone ask that, and The Voice turns to me and says, “I mean six.”

“You know when you’re at the back of the class and the teacher scolds you and it makes it even funnier? That was literally it.

This isn’t the only moment that didn’t make the cut; Kyran also reveals – in a “full exclusive” – that she “almost killed Michelle Visage” during the season. I hate it, actually Actor challenge via flying cue cards.

The scene was a parody of Love, in factThe infamous Christmas scene, where Andrew Lincoln’s character holds up signs to confess his love to Keira Knightley’s. THE Drag racing The version saw Kyran’s Hugh Grunt doing something similar to The Voice. But by throwing away these cards, the crew, including Michelle Visage, became unwitting targets.

“I almost accidentally knocked out Michelle and the team!” Kyran laughs. “I didn’t tell anyone because I forgot it happened. The scene where I was holding the cards and throwing them, the first take, I was throwing them so hard. And Michelle was like the team didn’t want to cut, so they were just dodging the path and avoiding all these cards!

“My first off-camera moment with Michelle was when I walked up to her and said, ‘I’m so sorry I almost killed you with those cards.’ But we succeeded! »

It’s clear from her conversation with Kyran that she loved her time on Drag racingand the new winner admits that “the happiest I’ve ever been in my life” was while filming the series. So much so, in fact, that if she got a call from Ru for a second All the winners All Stars, she is definitely yes – already.

“Look, if RuPaul calls now, I’ll go back tomorrow. I’ll be there, I’ll be there,” she laughs. “At the end of the finale, I turned around as we were leaving and packing, and I said, ‘Can we do 10 more episodes?’ It was my happy space. I’m waiting by the phone.

The Trash Queen herself was also known for playing several male characters during her career. Drag racing mandate; Hugh Grunt, George Michael in the Rusical and Elvis for the Snatch Game. So should his success in these roles open the door to the show’s first drag king?

“I don’t see why there’s any reason not to do it. Drag kings are so amazing and such a huge part of the drag industry,” she says. “If there’s anything that shows they can excel, it’s me winning multiple challenges as a male character!”

You heard the woman; It’s trash day now and forever. And what exactly is Kyran’s MO for his reign?

“I’m going to make sure that every single person who supported me and loved me, including my family, my friends, my partner, my little wiener dog, my little nephew, Franco, every single person who left would not- what an emoji under my post, I’m going to make each of these people proud.

And then she adds, “I won’t wear antiperspirant, I’ll tell you that.” I’m telling you for free, I go full commando all year round. So everyone benefits!
