Nature provides us with foods rich in essential nutrients, ranging from protein to a variety of vitamins and minerals. While non-vegetarians have many sources of protein, vegetarians often rely on a limited number of options, with lentils being one of the main sources.

However, a recent viral video has raised concerns over the authenticity of the famous Himachal black lentils (Kali Dal), which leaves many worried.

In the viral video, a woman shared her shocking experience after purchasing black lentils from Himachal Pradesh. By soaking them in water overnight, she observed that the water turned black and the lentils themselves changed color, revealing a green tint beneath the black layer.

It appeared that someone had simply dyed the green moong dal black, with the color disappearing during soaking.

This falsification is more than simple fraud; this poses serious health risks. The chemical used to color lentils is banned due to its potential carcinogen and other serious illnesses.

Unfortunately, such adulterated products, including fake salt and sugar, are allegedly being sold in Himachal Pradesh, thereby putting public health at risk.
