The hand-to-hand recount in the state Supreme Court race is almost over

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – Officials say the vote count in a state Supreme Court contest is almost complete.

According to Public Information Director Patrick Gannon, as of Friday afternoon, 98 of the 100 county boards of elections had completed their counting for the Seat 6 associate judge contest.

Republican candidate Jefferson G. Griffin requested a partial hand-to-hand recount.

After a statewide automatic recount, Griffin trailed Democratic candidate Allison Riggs by 734 votes out of more than 5.5 million votes cast in that contest.

Gannon says two counties – Brunswick and Currituck – are expected to complete their recounts Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
