Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell captured the hearts of the nation with every performance on BBC dance show Strictly come dancing. This continued to be the case after their Charleston to Blue Vipers of Brooklyn’s When You’re Smiling on tonight’s live show.

Chris, who made history as Strictly’s first blind contestant, has been taking part in the competition for nine weeks now, competing with his dance partner Dianne. Their final performance saw them perform a fun Charleston with a very colorful hot air balloon display that matched the dance partners’ bright outfits.

Judge Craig told them: “It wasn’t complicated, it was slightly under-excited, to be outrageous, there was a little hesitation.” He also criticized the heel click before adding “I’m just really picky, it’s the semi-finals”, but he praised the performance as being full of character.

The Liverpool comedian hit back at the judge. He said: “Look, it’s the semi-final, it’s your opportunity to say something nice because people have a pretty low opinion of you.”

Motsi added “great personality and great pacing, loved the funny gags” and she added that her personality shone through. Shirley told Chris it was “perfectly in sync”, while Anton said it wasn’t perfect but it was “pretty close”. Chris and Dianne scored 33 out of a possible 40.

Fans took to X to comment on the banter between the two Strictly stars. One fan said: “Chris giving it back to Craig is always my favorite moment of the night.” Another added: “Less energy Craig remember that. Oh Chris I love you.” Another post read: “Chris and Dianne need to win. Not only because he’s a real trooper and deserves the world, but just so he can come back next year and bully Craig some more.”

The final live show will see the five remaining couples compete for a place in next weekend’s final, with only four able to compete for the Glitterball trophy. All couples will perform twice during the live show.
