Thank your community leaders this holiday season

Community leaders are the backbone of our thriving cities. They deserve sincere recognition for their unwavering commitment to making our community a better place. Taking leadership can mean facing public criticism, managing conflicting interests, struggling with limited resources, becoming burned out by high demands, and making difficult decisions that might not fully satisfy anyone.

Our leaders take the form of elected officials (like local government), leaders of civic organizations (like Rotary clubs and the Chamber of Commerce), school and educational leaders (like teachers and PTA members), youth leaders (such as coaches), health and emergency officials. (such as nurses and first responders), faith leaders, business leaders, volunteer coordinators, cultural and arts leaders, and local organizers and advocates. And I’m only scratching the surface of the many roles they fill. You could name a few that inspired you.

Community leaders listen, mentor, cultivate, network, invest, collaborate, support, guide and sometimes tear their hair out. This holiday season, take a moment to express your gratitude to those who have inspired you. William Arthur Ward said, “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” » You will both be better off after speaking up.
