ZARA Tanzania Adventures applauded for its tax compliance and contribution to tourism

Moshi. The Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Mr. Yusuph Mwenda, has commended ZARA Tanzania Adventures for its exemplary commitment to tax compliance and its vital role in the tourism sector. The accolade came during a visit to the company’s headquarters in Moshi, Kilimanjaro, on December 15, 2024, during which Mr. Mwenda highlighted ZARA’s positive impact on the national economy.

During his visit, Mr. Mwenda praised the leadership of Ms. Zainab Ansell, Founder and CEO of ZARA Tanzania Adventures, for setting a benchmark for tax compliance within the industry.

“ZARA Tanzania Adventures has always demonstrated that businesses can thrive while meeting their tax obligations,” he said. “Last year, Ms. Ansell was honored as the Top Female Taxpayer, and we anticipate the company will achieve similar accolades this year due to its continued contribution to the economy.

Meeting the challenges of the tourism industry

Mr Mwenda also addressed various challenges facing the tourism industry, assuring stakeholders of the TRA’s commitment to solving them. One notable initiative is to relax regulations on the use of drones in Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, which is expected to improve tourism services and attract more visitors.

“These initiatives are part of our overall efforts to create a business-friendly environment and boost tourism growth,” Mr Mwenda said. “By overcoming these challenges, we aim to enable businesses like ZARA Tanzania Adventures to contribute more sustainably to government revenue through tourism. »

For over 40 years, ZARA Tanzania Adventures has been the cornerstone of the Tanzanian tourism industry. In addition to creating employment opportunities and contributing to substantial tax revenue, the company has consistently showcased the country’s natural wonders to the world, cementing its status as a central player in the country’s economic development.
