Amazon Prime Video to restrict password sharing, introduce ads in India by 2025 – Brand Wagon News

Amazon Prime Video will introduce restrictions on password sharing in India starting January 2025. Under the updated policy, users will be limited to logging in on a maximum of five devices, which can include up to with two televisions. The company said in a communication to subscribers that the changes were part of efforts to refine its terms of service. Subscribers exceeding the device limit will need to manage their devices through platform settings or purchase an additional Prime subscription.

Currently, Amazon Prime Video allows users to connect on up to 10 devices without restrictions on TVs. The new cap of five devices, including two TVs, may pose challenges for some users. In addition to these changes, the company announced plans to introduce advertisements in TV shows and movies for existing subscribers starting in 2025. Amazon assured that the advertising load will be lighter compared to traditional television and other platforms. To meet the needs of users looking for an ad-free experience, a new premium subscription tier will also be launched.

The pricing structure of Amazon Prime in India remains unchanged for the moment. The annual subscription is priced at Rs 1,499, while the quarterly and monthly plans are available for Rs 599 and Rs 299, respectively. The platform also offers budget options including the Rs 799 Amazon Prime Lite plan and the Rs 399 Prime Shopping Edition, which offer limited features compared to the full package.
