Davina McCall laments her hair loss and reveals the real reason she would never get Botox again – as partner Michael Douglas cuts her hair after brain tumor surgery

Davina McCall has revealed that having children caused her to lose much of her hair, as she wondered if she would get Botox again.

The TV presenter, 57, was treated to a haircut by her partner Michael Douglas on Saturday – her first since surgery to remove a rare benign brain tumor.

The 50-year-old hairstylist explained that he wanted to pamper his girlfriend of five years and shared the entire haircut on Instagram Livestream, to show his fans his techniques and tips.

And as the couple laughed together and packed on the PDA, Davina opened up about how her hair has fared over the years and after her surgery.

She showed her scar for the first time, saying, “It’s all healed, it’s a little crusty,” but mourned the loss of hair around it, saying “we lost a big chunk of it here” and lamenting that it would take years for it to grow back. .

But Michael assured his partner that hair grows about “15cm a year”, and insisted that “this time next year you won’t notice it”.

He then showed her longer locks and said, “People think you have really thick hair, but it’s actually quite thin” as Davina turned around in mock indignation, to shout, “What!?

She then admitted that she didn’t have a lot of hair, but it was thick, as Michael edited: “The strands are pretty thick, but you don’t have a lot of hair.”

The former Big Brother host explained that she had lots of hair until she became pregnant with her three children, Holly, 23, Tilly, 21, and Chester, 18.

She sadly said: “I had (thick hair). But I had babies,” before joking: “They took my hair! They put it on their heads. They all have beautiful hair.

Michael then cut sleek bangs for Davina, talking about the process to fans who watched, one of whom joked in the comments: “Bangs are cheaper than Botox.”

Davina laughed as she agreed and explained that although she had had Botox before, she wouldn’t choose to get it again because it was “important that I be able to move my eyebrows” for her work.

She replied: “You are absolutely right. I have a lot of wrinkles on my forehead. I mean, I can’t and I don’t have Botox. I’ve had it before, like in my frown lines.

“But when I do shows like Long Lost Family, the people I’m talking to need to know how I feel. I can tell them how I feel with my face, I can emote.

“So it’s important that I can move my eyebrows. But bangs really help soften your forehead.

Throughout it all, she was in good spirits, appearing very fond of Michael as the two shared a mid-kiss and teased each other.

The couple have been dating since 2019, but during the video, Davina explained that they first met 20 years earlier, when he first cut her hair.

At one point during the livestream, Michael pulled her hair to cut a few layers in the front and the TV star could be heard catching her breath and grimacing as he quickly apologized to her for being too brutal.

As she reassured him that everything was fine, the hairdresser cheekily said to the camera: “I was a bit rough there – she normally likes it rough”, which made Davina laugh: “Michael Douglas , you are naughty!”

As the couple discussed their health, Michael admitted he was also suffering from hair loss due to recent stress which worsened his alopecia, and showed off his bald spots on camera.

At the end of the clip, Davina looked into the camera and praised her partner for doing such a good job before joking that she should “have brain surgery more often”.

Michael joked that he was impressed by the cut, because before Davina looked “terrible”, before gushing that it had been “a pleasure” to do her hair.

Davina has been very candid about her health issues and gave an emotional update in an Instagram video on Thursday, as she urged others to get private health checkups if they can afford them.

The My Mum Your Dad presenter had a tumor removed at a private clinic after she was offered a check-up after attending a menopause conference.

Discussing her progress after surgery, she explained: “I definitely feel a lot more like myself now. I feel much better.

“My feeling of gratitude grows day by day, I cry a little less, which is good. I’m really looking forward to Christmas.

“I want to talk about where I did my health check. I didn’t sing it from the rooftops because it costs more than most people can afford. It’s expensive – BUT it saved my life. But it’s prohibitive for most.

“The NHS also offers many other checks. So collect them – take the health check. Preventive medicine is better than reactive medicine.

“Eat well, exercise, be less stressed. I feel so grateful now. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at the clinics – I’m pretty sure you saved my life.

She then wrote in the caption: “I understand that for most of my followers, having a private checkup is not financially viable. But I really think @onewelbeck deserves a special mention.

“This was the company that offered me the health check in exchange for the lecture I gave them, and that health check most likely saved my life.” I owe Rupal and Simi a special debt of gratitude for guiding me through what has been a crazy year.

“I recently interviewed @drchatterjee and he said that the tough times he faced always ended up being some kind of blessing…and I really think this whole experience is a blessing.

“The love I feel for life, my family, my partner, nature, the sun, the rain, the wind… everything… it’s overwhelming sometimes… and I completely understand how lucky I was to get that health check… but there have been numerous health checks which I cleverly ignored, when I received letters from @nhsengland offering them…. so what I’m saying is DO THE NHS HEALTH CHECKS…they’re free! BTW x thanks for all the messages and support…big hugs.’
