We still have Football Manager 2025 arrives in Marchbut the game features are locked and loaded. To be completely honest, Football Manager 2026’s features are probably already set too. And if we are Really Honestly, Sports Interactive won’t listen to us when deciding how to take the game to the next level.

That said, there are a few features I’d like to see rolled out in future iterations of the game. These are ideas that I think wouldn’t be too difficult to implement and would noticeably improve everyone’s experience. I’ve been playing a ridiculous amount of Football Manager 2024 lately, so I’ve noticed a few things that might help win back the good graces of the Football Manager community.

Tracking all-time goalscorers – overall and by league

Tracking current records – Football Manager 2024

This was highly requested functionality for ages, and I really have no idea why it hasn’t been added. Imagine the thrill of seeing how your regenerations compare to real-life legends for goals scored. You have a wonder striker breaking it, and suddenly they’re closing in on Alan Shearer’s Premier League record. It would add immersion, motivation, and just another reason to keep playing.

We could track the top scorers in each league and have an overall list of the top scorers of all time. If my regeneration scores more goals than Cristiano Ronaldo, I need to find out. The Hall of Fame is already vibrant – Pep Guardiola just passed Sir Alex Ferguson in mine – so why can’t we do the same with the players? And once they add goals, why not add assists too? Come on, Sports Interactive, give us the icing on the cake.

Show when tactical decisions and formation changes were made

End of Game Screen – Football Manager 2024

This idea was inspired by an article on Sports Interactive forums. It would be very useful to see when specific tactical changes were made during a match. For now, the end of game screen only displays the tactic you chose. finished with, not the ones you used throughout the game.

Formations you used in the game – Football Manager

Sure, this tells you how many minutes you used each training, but it doesn’t show what actually happened during those periods. How many goals have I scored? How many have I conceded?

It would be amazing to have stats tied to specific tactical adjustments. For example, how many goals do I score when I light Get stuck versus when I don’t? Obviously, the effectiveness of the changes depends on other factors, such as the strength of the opposition, but give us the statistics and let us judge for ourselves.

“Add all to shortlist” button for NXGen and GOAL50 rankings.

NxGn Screen – Football Manager

This one is for the lazy among us. It’s maddening to click on every prodigy and manually search for them or add them to the shortlist. We all know why these lists exist: to help us recruit wonderkids from smaller clubs. So why not explore them all in one go?

Ability to select and recruit more than 50 players at once

Scouting in Football Manager 2024

If you select more than 50 players in the scouting screen, the option to scout them disappears. For what?! This requires you to drag and select carefully just below 50 players each time.

There must be a technical reason for this, but I don’t see it. Just let us select up to 1,000 players to “assign to the recruiting pool” in one go. Save us precious minutes that could be spent purchasing other wonders.

Ability to negotiate everything when offered a new contract

My recent contract offer in Football Manager 2024

Boca Juniors recently offered me a new contract. I have absolutely had success with them, sitting comfortably at the top of the league. However, when they gave me the new contract, there was no any possibility of requesting modifications.

No chance to change the club’s vision, ask for an increase in the salary budget or ask for more coaches. If I performed well enough to get a new contract, surely I would have some leverage to make these demands? Even if they say no, I would at least like the opportunity to ask.

It’s like being invited to a party: you might not want to go, but it’s nice to be invited.

Artificial intelligence to improve social flow and interactions during press conferences

The social feed is removed in Football Manager 2025, but hear me out: imagine if AI powered unique, dynamic interactions in press conferences and social feeds.

Currently, these features are quickly becoming outdated because you see the same questions and answers every time. If something like ChatGPT worked behind the scenes, it could make every interaction personal and engaging.

That said, the environmental impact of AI is a legitimate concern, and it’s a much bigger debate than Football Manager. But for now, let’s agree that press conferences are boring, everyone sends their assistant, and they desperately need an overhaul.

You can already play a pseudo-director of Football by delegating everything to your assistant manager except transfers, or vice versa. But what about a dedicated mode?

In this mode, you will manage tactics, hire managers and build teams. If things go wrong, you could fire the manager and place the blame on him. This would add a whole new dimension to the game.

Of course, this shouldn’t come at the expense of the traditional way of management, but as a secondary option it could be amazing.
