A recruitment drive to find a new police chief for Humberside has resumed, five months after the force failed to receive a single application for the role.

The position has been held temporarily by Judi Heaton since July last year, following the short-notice retirement of Paul Anderson.

Applications for the vacant role, which carries a salary of £171,519 per annum, will close on February 2.

Jonathan Evison, Humberside’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), postponed the recruitment process in October following criticism of senior police leaders by a police watchdog.

The job advertisement, published on the CCP websitesaid the ideal candidate would “drive performance excellence and ensure the force achieves its maximum potential.”

The contract for the position will be for a maximum duration of five years.

Mr. Anderson announced his retirement from law enforcement in June after less than a year in the role.

The following day, the Independent Office for Police Conduct confirmed it was investigating Mr Anderson. This was later confirmed he faced allegations of serious misconduct.
