Motörhead’s Mikkey Dee almost died of sepsis and was almost “playing drums with Lemmy in heaven.”

Motörhead’s Mikkey Dee has revealed that he recently suffered from sepsis and almost died from it.

The drummer – with whom he now plays Scorpios – took to his official Facebook to share an update regarding his current health. Dee revealed that about three weeks ago he was admitted to hospital and underwent various surgeries. He is now home and recovering.

“First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the warm Christmas and New Year greetings, which I was unable to respond to. I always try to do this every year. During this holiday season, I was hospitalized with a very serious blood infection (sepsis). I was admitted for three weeks but now I’m home battling this bastard bacteria. Fortunately, I received fantastic care at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, my hometown,” he explained.

He continued: “Thank you a thousand times to all the doctors and nurses who gave me the best care. After several operations, I am now back home and the numbers are all going in the right direction. Still a lot of recovery and rehab ahead of me.

Dee added that he was working “100% to get back on the drum stool” for the Scorpions. Residence in Las Vegas to celebrate their 60th anniversarywhich will begin next month. He continued, “So, the Stinger is out and I can’t wait to see you all on the road and rocking it!” I wish everyone a fantastic 2025, good health and lots of Rock n’ Roll!

Dee previously opened up about her battle with sepsis last month when speaking to a Swedish newspaper. Aftonbladet and explained that he developed the condition after spraining his foot.

“The ankle swelled like hell, then it took on a strange shape and appearance and looked like an overcooked ham. I got very sick, so I had to go by ambulance to Sahlgrenska and there they found out that I had exorbitant values, so I became a priority there,” he said (translated from Swedish via Blabbermouth).

He continued: “It was surgery straight away, the first of three. They cut out what was dead, infected and severely infested. It wasn’t a good trip I was on… Another day and I’ll be playing drums with Lemmy in heaven. I can say it.

In other Motörhead news, it was recently shared that some of the Lemmy’s ashes to be displayed at Stringfellow strip club in London.
