MrBeast responds to criticism as family wears his products during proposal

MrBeast attempted to silence online critics for decorating attendants with his own products during his proposal to fiancée Thea Booysen.

2024 was a year of ups and downs for the online sensation MisterBeast. The YouTuber became the first creator on the platform to reach 300 million subscribersand launched “the greatest game show ever made” on Amazon in the form of Beast Games.

On the other hand, he found himself embroiled in multiple controversies, including mold found in its new Lunchly products, crypto scam accusationsAnd prosecution for dangerous conditions on the aforementioned Beast Games. With all of this weighing on him, it’s no surprise that the creator wants to start 2025 on a high note.

MrBeast visited X on January 1, 2025 to announce his engagement to his girlfriend (now fiancée) Thea Booysen. Like many things he does, the reveal sparked some backlash for outfitting Booysen’s family with MrBeast products for engagement photos. The criticism seems to have hit a weak spot as MrBeast offered a brutal response.

MrBeast attempts to shut down engagement criticism

The first shot came from a fellow YouTuber J Aubrey which highlighted the apparent absurdity of MrBeast, Booysen and his family’s attire. “I’m sorry but it’s so funny that they’re all wearing his products,” Aubrey posted on X.

Commentators were quick to offer their own critiques of the situation. “It still feels so fake, even though it feels like an extra plug for his products,” one user of opinion. Others called the situation “scary” or decried the moment as “corporate and soulless.”

Following the backlash, MrBeast himself responded by explaining the amount of product in the photos. “It was cold in the house and I just happened to have some Christmas sweaters lying around,” he explained.

Many users do not accept the rationale, noting that despite the apparent coldness of the air, everyone is barefoot. A number of reviewers also pointed out that MrBeast can “totally afford to heat up.” The YouTuber did not deign to answer any questions regarding his response.
