Barcelona star ‘very emotionally affected’ by Athletic Club dismissal

Barcelona star Ansu Fati has struggled to come to terms with his complete exclusion from the club’s final matchday.

Barcelona were of course back in action on Wednesday evening.

After traveling to Saudi Arabia, the Blaugrana faced Athletic Club in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup.

In the end, Hansi Flick’s troops headed to the final, thanks to a 2-0 triumph.

But the aforementioned Ansu Fati played no role…

In fact, the Spaniard wasn’t even called up by boss Flick, despite the fact that Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor remained unavailable for selection.

Toni Fernández, 16, was instead given the green light to take his place among Barcelona’s substitutes.

And, as mentioned above, if the latest words emanating from the media are to be believed, then the importance of all this was not at all lost on Ansu himself.

“The player is in good physical condition, so his exclusion took him by surprise. (It was) a rejection that left the perpetrator very emotionally affected.
