Springfield restaurant owner updates search for woman who left heartfelt letter on Christmas Day

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A Springfield restaurant owner found a woman who left a heartfelt message for staff on Christmas Day.

The search by workers at Black Sheep Burgers and Shake had gone viral. The woman had dined downtown during a free meal offered to people in need during the Christmas holiday.

The note, in cursive writing, read:

December 25, 2024

To the owner, managers and staff!

A very big thank you for the kindness of you all! It would have been a very boring Christmas for me as I no longer have any family. I never thought about it years ago, but being the youngest in my family, I saw everyone else leave this Earth before me.

Living on Social Security allowed me to cut back on expenses and rent a room and share a house…young people know what I mean. I feel like I’m in college again! (drawn smiling face)

A dear friend heard about the free meal offer and invited me to a “Christmas lunch.” Excellent idea since I was at $1!

The meal was delicious as was the staff. Thank you again for making this day unforgettable! Blessings (drawn heart)

After speaking to her, Black Sheep owner Mike Jalili called her a remarkable woman. He hopes to meet her in person soon. He shared his story on his Facebook page.
