The world’s most powerful passport for 2025 has been revealed – Travel

Some people don’t care about their passport until they’re frantically searching for it hours before they have to board their flight.

But for others, the journey a document that constitutes a ticket to leave their home country is their most valuable asset – and that’s probably because theirs has much more power than a UNITED KINGDOM A.

Every year, the Henley Passport Index reminds us all how much your passport weighs depending on where in the world you’re from.

Experts use proprietary data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and conduct their own research to produce the annual ranking.

It is judged by how many destinations a passport holder “can access without prior visa” – essentially, how many countries they can enter without much trouble.

So the fact that the UK and over 50 countries around the world will now have to request a ETIAS visa waiver traveling around Europe probably hasn’t done us any favors this year, folks.

Passports earn a point for the Henley Passport Index based on how easy it is to bring travelers to another country, while you can also earn a point if they can obtain a visa, visitor permit or a electronic travel authorization (ETA).

If a visa or government-an approved e-visa is required before departure, the travel document gets a score of 0, while the total score for each passport is made up of the number of destinations for which no visa is required.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at what the Henley Passport Index for 2025 looks like.

In fourth place are Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden, which each received 190 points.

And in fifth place are Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland and finally the United Kingdom, each with a score of 190.

So which passports ended up at the bottom of the unwanted list?
