Cagliari’s Zortea among Europe’s best with goal against Milan

Cagliari are less than 15 minutes away from an important point on the road against Milan and perhaps that’s thanks to Nadir Zortea.

The 25-year-old defender is a new man at Unipol Domus this season after joining Sardinian side Atalanta following a series of loan spells in Italian football.

Already he has begun to reward the confidence shown in the summer move after his equalizer against Milan to cancel out Álvaro Morata’s 51st-minute opener.

Although Zortea will no doubt have Mike Maignan to thank after his shot slipped under the Frenchman, he can still boast four goals in the 2024-25 season, putting him level with Willi Orbán, Lukas Kübler and Joško Gvardiol.

This could prove decisive.
