Cynthia, who looked suspiciously “gaunt” at the Golden Globes last week, looked completely different in the decade-old photo.

Her big break came with the Chocolaterie Menier production of The Color Purple where she played the lead role of Celie Harris.

The timeless beauty, 38, gained attention playing Elphaba in the hit Wicked, the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical.

She and Ariana, who plays Glinda, developed a very close bond throughout the process.

Earlier this month, Cynthia revealed she felt a “great responsibility” caring for Ariana while filming the hit musical.

The singer explained in an interview with CBS News that before filming began, the two discussed how they would work together and Cynthia revealed that she thought it was important to take care of the popstar.

She added that the two men both knew the film was going to be a success and with all the pressure, they would have to work together.

Cynthia told the US news channel: “Before we started filming, we both had a conversation to make sure we would take care of each other and have the space we needed for each other, and that we would take, you know, we would give what we need.” we had to be generous to each other in this matter, because we knew it was a big undertaking.

“We knew we had a big responsibility, but we knew none of us could really do it alone.”

Cynthia recently opened up about the “difficult” and “vulnerable” conversations she and Ariana shared before working together on Wicked.

“I gained a sister,” she says in The women of Elle 2024 in Hollywood wallet. ‘At this point we talk almost every day. We were both blown away by how instantly connected we were.

“I remember the first day we got together. It was at (director) Jon M. Chu’s house, and Stephen Schwartz (who wrote the music and lyrics to Wicked for the OG Broadway musical and the movie) was done.

“He played us a few songs and we sang together for the first time. It worked. It was one of the most rewarding things to know that there was someone who was that open and available, because she was, and that meant I could be too.

“We also had a great relationship off-screen.”
