The Judicial Commission, led by the retirement judge of the High Court, Cr Dash, surveying the alleged torture of an army officer and the sexual assault of his fiancée at the Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar the year Last, concluded his investigation on Wednesday, said an official.

The Commission also examined witnesses, evidence and affidavits. The commission’s mandate was initially exhausted on January 31. However, it was extended until February 28, 2025.

Answering a question, Mohanty said that the Commission in its report will indicate, who was responsible for the incident and would suggest the government of the State on the means of avoiding the occurrence of such incidents in the future.

However, the lawyer for the army’s fiancée had asked for time until February 15 to question the accused police and 35 witnesses. However, the Commission could not allow it due to time constraints, said Mohanty.

The incident took place when an army officer and his fiancée had gone to the Bharatpur police station to file a rabies while driving.

Instead, they argued with the police after which the duo would have been tortured under the custody which sparked a major controversy. At least five police officers were placed in suspension on the incident.
