The Los Angeles Lakers would have acquired the Mark Williams Center for a package including their best recruit and their latest negotiable round choice.

The Lakers sent Dalton Knecht, the veteran attacker Cam Reddish, an exchange of choice of 2030 and a first round in 2031 unprotected to the Charlotte Hornets to acquire Williams, according to Shams Charania of Espn.

Williams reacted to the news in an article on X:

Williams, who was limited to 62 games in his first two NBA seasons due to an injury, has only made 23 appearances this season.

Although Williams has missed three of the last seven games of the Hornets due to the management of left foot injuries, Dave McMenamin, the ESPN Lakers, are “confident in his medical”.

Williams, who was 23 years old in December, was effective in good health. After sitting on the first 20 games of the season, he returned to contribute a career summit of 15.6 points out of 58.6% of the shots on the field while adding 9.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game In 25 minutes per night.

Williams has a club option of $ 6.2 million on his contract and is expected to reach a limited free agency in 2026.

The Lakers probably hope that Williams’ rebound will help the team replace Anthony Davis, who was exchanged earlier this week in the successful agreement of the former Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić.

The addition of a seven -feet center alongside Dončić could give the Lakers an area before the elite before the playoffs, providing Williams is able to stay healthy in the section.

In order to acquire a center to deploy alongside Dončić, the Lakers separated from a first -round selection in 2024 in Knecht, which has an average of 9.4 points and 3.1 rebounds while playing more 20 minutes per night at 48 games from his recruited season.

Knecht still has three remaining seasons on his recruit contract, including two club options which could carry out his contract until 2028.

The Lakers also farewell to Reddish, who was in his second season with the team. The 25 -year -old was on average 3.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 interceptions in 18 minutes per game as a depth option.

Reddish plays on an expired contract and should currently become a free agent without restriction this summer.

The agreement left Lakers to $ 3.8 million below the second deck of the luxury tax, according to Bobby Marks in ESPN.

Lakers also abandoned their first -round choice in 2031 as part of the trade. The selection was the choice of first negotiable round of the franchise, as indicated by Marks.

The Hornets are in progress to own their next seven first round choices in addition to four additional round selections acquired through trades, according to Marks.

Lakers have a choice of second negotiable round and a remaining list point, Beaver Noted, after sending Davis and Max Christie earlier this week and separate from Knecht and Rougeâtre just before the deadline.

Williams could potentially join the Lakers for a match Thursday evening against the Golden State Warriors, while Knecht and Reddish could join the Hornets before Friday competition with the San Antonio Spurs.
