Washington beats Northwestern 76-71, ‘Cats loses Jalen Leach for the season

Northwest Wildcats deserve a break.

Northwestern lost 76-71 on Saturday evening. It was not the greatest loss of the terrible, horrible, not good, very bad Saturday.

The Wildcats were without player Jalen Leach. “The coach of Cats Chris Collins has been ejected. Naked dragged 14 points.

Sunday morning, the team announced that Leach would be lost for the season with an LCA injury. This news comes in the heels of the team losing the star of Brooks Barnhizer for the season.

How it went

Tyler Harris scored 18 points, the Grand Osobor added 16 points and nine rebounds and Washington showed a 2-point lead in the second half before the Huskies have to take a sequence of home losses of four matches.

DJ Davis scored 15 points and Zoom Diallo 10 for Washington (12-11, 3-9 Big Ten).

Mullins struck a 3-point that gave the Wildcats an advance of about 6-2 after the match, but they became aimless in the next 6 minutes, going 0 for 7 on the field with three reversals while Washington scored 10 consecutive points.

Davis struck a 3 -point With 7:59 am to do in the first half to trigger an 18-6 race which made 34-22 with 3:03 until half-time.

Diallo struck a rider to do it 49-34 at the start of the second half, but Mullins struck a 3-point 17 seconds later, which sparked a 11-0 race and Jordan Clayton crowned a thrust of 9- 2 with a 3 that made 55-55 with 7:48 to play.

Osobor converted a three-point game to give the Huskies the advance for the good and Davis followed with a 3 to make 71-66 with 1:19 to go.

Nick Martinelli scored seven consecutive points to make 66-62 with 3:41 to play and give Northwestern his first advance in the first minutes. Martinelli led Northwestern (13-11, 4-9) with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Ty Berry added 14 points and Justin Mullins scored 13.

What is the next step

This is a two -component issue.

Northwestern plays on Tuesday in Oregon. Washington takes the road to play Ohio State on Wednesday.

How the team goes after the injuries in Leach and Barnhizer remains to be seen. Clayton obtained his first start of the season, but the team needs more KJ Windham and Angelo Ciaravino who are invited to grow quickly.
