USAID stops could lead to American attacks on humanitarian convoys – press agency – World

New York, February 11. / TASS /. The closure of the American Agency for International Development (USAID) could lead to American military strikes on humanitarian aid convoys, because the Pentagon is not aware of their presence in the conflict zone, Bloomberg reported.

According to the news agency, when the administration of the American president Donald Trump closed the USAID, it also suspended the work of a communication network which warns the Pentagon officials of the presence of humanitarian convoys in the areas of conflict. Bloomberg stressed that for ten years, USAID has collected the locations of humanitarian missions in places around the world and has transmitted them to employees of the US Defense Ministry responsible for determining the objectives of strikes.

US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that “the humanitarian notification system” had been closed for more than a week. According to the news agency sources, the Trump administration has put on leave or locked up the USAID employees responsible for maintaining the notification system which remained after the reduction of staff. This decision threatens the life of American citizens and other humanitarian workers deployed in countries where the United States conducts its operations, including in Yemen and Syria, said Bloomberg.

On February 3, the American administration actually suspended the activities of the USAID. By decision of US President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was appointed temporary chief of this agency. USAID was suspended during the suggestion of the billionaire of American businessman Elon Musk, which Trump had previously appointed to lead the new Ministry of Government Effectiveness (DOGE) to improve the US government, reduce the inflated state apparatus and fighting bureaucracy.
