Nigeria ranked the 36th most corrupt country in the world in 2024

Transparency International, a global coalition against corruption, ranked Nigeria as the 36th most corrupt country in the world.

Nigeria was joined by Uganda, Mexico, Madagascar, Iraq and Cameroon in the same place with a total score of 26 points.

The classification published on Tuesday highlighted the index for perception of corruption 2024.

The list classifies Denmark as the least corrupt country with 90 points, Finland in the second with 88 points and Singapore as third with 84 points.

No African country has list the first 10 very clean because it was dominated by European countries.

However, Cap Verde is at the top of the list of the least corrupt African countries despite the number 35 with 62 points.

South Sudan, Somalia and Venezuela are the most corrupt countries in the world for the year.

Citing the basis of selection and the result, the president of international transparency, François Valeria, said: “The index for perception of corruption (IPC) of 2024 shows that corruption is a dangerous problem in each part of the world , but a change for the best happens in many countries.

“Research also reveals that corruption is a major threat to climate action. It hinders progress in the reduction of emissions and adaptation to the inevitable effects of global heating.
