This is my real problem with the delay Open 2

Forward in 2025, the OnePlus Open 2 was one of my newest phones. The first Open Open was a massive success, and the rumors of his successor painted a promising image. If the first folding phone from OnePlus was so good, imagine what the company could do with its suite.

As a fan of the first Open Oneplus, it is obviously disappointing. But this is particularly disconcerting given what the Open 2 one could have been and the big hole that it is likely to leave on the American foldable market.

I did not put my hands on the phone before last August, and even almost a year after its release, the open immediately set me out like a phone that I wanted to continue using – even above the new Samsung Galaxy Z Plé 6. For what? There are several reasons.

Among all the foldable phones I have used, OnePlus Open equipment is my favorite. The appearance of the cover screen is perfect, and it looks like a “normal” phone. The hinge is excellent, the interior screen looks fantastic and I love the leather back on black and red colors. I also think that the giant camera bump on the back is perfect. It gives the phone a sense of character, and it is perfectly positioned to rest on my index when I hold the opening.

But it is not only the material that OnePlus did well. Practically everything on the Open Open works for me. The cameras? Great. The battery life? Reliable. The price? It is always one of the most competitive for a foldable in the United States. The OnePlus Open had faults, but it established an incredible precedent for the foldable OnePlus that the anticipation of the Open 2 started almost immediately.

It turns out that this anticipation was well deserved. Similar to the way the OpenPlus Open was the American version of the Oppo Find N3, we expected the Open 2 OnePlus to be the American version of the Oppo Find N5. It was exciting because N5 research seems phenomenal.

We recently went Practical with the Oppo Find N5And, quite simply, it’s beautiful. Discovery N5 is officially the most thin book foldable phone phone. Oppo has also done incredible work with the display fold, because it is the least visible that I have seen on a foldable to date. Combine this with an Elite Snapdragon 8 chip and a 50W fast cable load, and there is a lot to hope for. Presumably, all of this would have come to the OnePlus Open 2, but with the crushed 2025 Liberation plans, it is no longer on the table.

If discovery N5 had proven to be a bump of minor specifications, miss the open 2 could have pitured a little less. But from where I am seated, research N5 could be one of the most interesting foldables of 2025. If this is the case, the absence of the Open 2 will be more difficult to fight against.

If you live on a market where the Oppo Find N5 will be published, none of this really matters to you. But for those of us in the United States, it’s a bomb. The American foldable market is not dead, but its 2025 forecast seems dark.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will almost certainly be released this summer, but the first rumors brush a mixed table. The blanket and the interior screens would be larger, and the phone should also be thinner. Great! And … that’s it. With OnePlus delaying Open 2, Samsung and Google will be the only two serious choices for folding book style phones in the United States this year. The Z Fold 7 and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be almost excellent, but having this third choice of OnePlus in 2023 and 2024 added an essential variety and competition.
