52-year-old man arrested for raping 13-year-old girl in Ghazipur

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 52-year-old man at a shop in a village under Nonhara police station in Ghazipur district on Saturday evening. The accused, identified as Sabir Ahmed, was arrested soon after the incident was reported to the police.

According to police reports, the girl was outside her home when Ahmed lured her into his utensil store. Once inside, he allegedly tied her hands and feet with rope and hid her in a drum to prevent her from escaping.

A relative of the victim noticed Ahmed closing the shutter of the store and raised the alarm, prompting residents to investigate. While searching the store, they discovered the girl hiding in the drum, her limbs bound and a cloth stuffed in her mouth.

The police were alerted by the villagers and arrived to rescue the girl, who was sent for a medical check-up.

A case was registered against Ahmed under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

Kasimabad circle officer Anil Tiwari confirmed that the accused was taken into custody and produced before a court, where he was remanded to judicial custody. The authorities are continuing their investigation into this matter, ensuring that the situation in the village remains stable.
