Eugenie and Beatrice’s support likely won’t ease Harry and Meghan’s problems

It has been repeatedly reported that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have a good bond with Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.

Although the couple share good terms with each other, it is unlikely to be enough to persuade Netflix to renew their lucrative contract, according to a royal commentator.

In 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a very lucrative deal with Netflix after stepping down as senior royals.

Their first documentary series, Harry & Meghan, became a huge success, breaking several records on the streaming platform and offering a personal insight into their interactions with the royal family, including Meghan’s thoughts on her first meeting with Queen Elizabeth II.

However, almost two years have passed since its release, and the pair have only produced one additional project for Netflix, Heart of the Invictus, which, released in August 2023, failed to match the success of their beginnings. Their next release, POLO, is due out on December 10, but it’s not expected to replicate the same level of impact as their first series.

As their contract draws to a close next year, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams raised concerns on GB News that the Sussexes’ strained relationship with senior members of the royal family could influence Netflix’s decision not to renew the agreement.

He pointed out that the lack of new and compelling content about Harry and Meghan’s post-royal lives could lead to a decline in interest, affecting the future of their lucrative partnership with the streaming giant.

Fitzwilliams said: “Consider the position they are in now, they only get on with Meghan’s mother (Doria Ragland), Princess Eugenie and maybe Princess Beatrice.

“It’s a very curious situation and it doesn’t look good if they are monetizing their royal connections.

He continued: “Harry’s problem with POLO is that it’s an elitist sport so it’s unlikely to do wonders.

“But what they want is the renewal of the Netflix contract. Whether it is renewed is crucial for the Sussexes and they don’t know it at the moment.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not featured in Netflix’s official trailer for POLO.

However, a statement saying: “Executive produced by Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex” appeared in the trailer.
