Justin Turner Reacts to Jeff Passan’s Most Available MLB 1B List Snobbery With Meme | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats and Rumors

B/R

Veteran first baseman Justin Turner expressed outrage over his omission from the list of top free agents at the position still available.

ESPN Jeff Passan revealed first basemen who recently agreed to contracts and cited notable players who have yet to sign. That group was limited to Pete Alonso, Anthony Rizzo, Josh Bell and Ty France, with Passan including LaMonte Wade Jr. and Nathaniel Lowe as trade candidates.

Turner thought someone was missing:

Based on his 2024 production, the two-time All-Star has reason to feel a little aggrieved. He performed particularly well after being traded to the Seattle Mariners, hitting five home runs and posting a 128 OPS+ in 48 games, according to Baseball reference.

Turner was a consistent producer at the plate well into his 30s. During the last three seasonshe has a .271/.349/.427 slash line as well as a 116 OPS+.

Money launderers report Joel Reuter ranked him as the 58th overall free agent heading into the offseason.

More than anything, Passan’s message likely reflects the general belief regarding Turner’s usage in 2025. The 40-year-old has logged just 123 career appearances at first base. He spent most of his career at the hot corner, and potential suitors could view him more as a designated hitter than a regular infielder at this point in his career.

The fact that he still hasn’t signed suggests that Turner’s services aren’t in high demand right now.
