Michigan couple delivers their own baby with help from 911 dispatcher

CLINTON TWP., MI – Talk about staying calm under pressure. A Michigan couple delivered their own baby while on the phone with a 911 dispatcher.

As you can hear in the 911 call between the couple and dispatcher Cidnee Schramm of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center, the woman’s water had broken and her contractions were spaced apart. a minute.

Schramm not only helped the couple deliver the baby, but made sure they knew what to do after the birth, including how to stimulate the baby’s breathing.

“The baby is completely out,” dispatcher Schramm asked. “Yes,” the husband replied as you hear the wife say the baby is completely out.

“Is the umbilical cord around the neck? Yes or no,” Schramm then asked. “No,” the husband replied.

Schramm then wanted them to wipe the baby’s mouth with a clean, dry towel and stimulate the baby’s breathing by gently but vigorously rubbing the baby’s back with their fingertips.

Dispatcher Schramm remained on the phone with the couple until the Clinton Township Fire Department arrived.
