Unsolved homicide: Vancouver police appeal for witnesses

Vancouver police are urging witnesses to a fatal stabbing several years ago to “do the right thing” by coming forward and cooperating with investigators.

On Thursday, the department renewed its call for information in the unsolved homicide of Luis Rosas Saenz.

On the morning of July 10, 2021, officers were called to the scene near Southwest Marine Drive and West 57th Avenue after reports of a “fight in the street,” according to authorities.

When they arrived, they found Saenz, 24, seriously injured in the street. He later died in hospital.

Investigators believe Saenz was leaving a neighborhood party when he got into a “verbal altercation” with a group of people, one of whom stabbed him, the Vancouver Police Department said. A suspect has apparently been identified, but the VPD has not named him.

“There are people in our community who witnessed this homicide, and others who may have information that could help bring to justice the person responsible for this crime,” said spokesman Sgt. . » said Steve Addison.

“We are asking these people to come forward and tell us what they know, so we can get answers and accountability in this unsolved case.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide unit at 604-717-2500. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
