Challenge Cup: Cardiff Devils stage sublime comeback to beat Nottingham Panthers

Cardiff Devils overcame a four-goal deficit to claim a dramatic 6-4 victory over Nottingham Panthers and book their place in the Challenge Cup semi-finals.

Oliver Betteridge, Tim Doherty and Sam Herr all scored in the first half to put the visitors in control at the Vindico Arena.

Mitchell Fossier extended Nottingham’s lead, but Tyler Busch and Cole Sanford struck in quick succession to give Cardiff hope in the second half.

Kohen Olischefski scored Cardiff’s third goal before Cole Sanford equalized proceedings.

Olischefski then scored his second to put the home side 5-4 ahead in the closing stages, with Busch scoring his second and Cardiff their sixth as they sealed their place in the semi-finals of the competition – the Panthers qualifying for the playoff match.

Cardiff return to action against Coventry Blaze in the Elite League on December 26 (18:00 GMT).

Nottingham travel to Sheffield Steelers on the same day (16:00 GMT).
