Dow Futures Maintain Gains After Jobless Claims Report

Investors digested the first notable set of U.S. economic data for 2025 on Thursday morning.

Although the data covers developments through the end of 2024, the first weekly jobless claims report of the new year showed the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits was lower than last week’s forecast. The number of new applicants fell to its lowest level in eight monthsshows the data.

Stock futures were little changed in response, having retreated from their session highs shortly before the report was released.

Here’s where futures stood in recent trading:

Dow futures rose 309 points, or 0.7%, to 43,183.

S&P 500 futures gained 48 points, or 0.8%, to 5,983.

Nasdaq-100 futures rose 219 points, or 1%, to 21,448.
