Over a five-day period, damage from fireworks totaled 0,000, according to the Bexar County Fire Marshal.

BEXAR COUNTY – The Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office reported more than 32 firework-related fires in unincorporated Bexar County between Dec. 28, 2024 and Jan. 1, 2025, resulting in $100,000 in damages materials.

No serious fireworks-related injuries were reported during this period, the BCFMO said in a news release Thursday.

During the same period, the Bexar County Fire Department received 1,961 emergency/911 calls and 2,548 calls from non-emergency lines.

Here is a breakdown of the incidents BCFMO responded to:

  • 32 fires were linked to fireworks

    • 12 were grass or brush related fires

    • 3 structure fires

    • 2 vehicle fires

    • 5 trash fires

    • 10 non-habitable residential structures (shed, fence, etc.)

The BCFMO said several incidents involved fireworks debris that caught fire after the fireworks burst.

In total, five sites selling illegal fireworks were closed. Approximately 750 pounds of pyrotechnic products were seized from these sites located in residential areas of Bexar County. These sales operations were interrupted and violations were noted, BCFMO said.
