Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson’s job doesn’t appear safe as the team enters the final week of the 2024 season with a 4-12 record.

However, ESPN Jeremiah Fowler reported that “some people think (Pederson) projects confidence” amid rumors surrounding his job security.

Fowler added that Jaguars owner Shad Khan “did not raise his hand and was not in the locker room after the game on Sunday, which is not the norm after a win.” Jacksonville earned a 20-13 victory over the Tennessee Titans to end a two-game skid.

Pederson told reporters On Monday, he believes he has not lost the locker room, and the victory showed that the players have not given up on the season. He stressed the importance of continuity, perhaps signaling that he feels he deserves to return in 2025.

“I think the consistency, the continuity, you’re in this together, you know exactly how people think, how they operate, the level of communication, all that, is positive in the direction you’re trying to go,” Pederson said. said. “I think it would be different too if you saw people throwing in the towel a month ago, right? Or let’s say, you always hear coaches losing a locker room, at that point, I think that it’s a different situation. I think it’s a different story. I think it’s a different set of circumstances. I just don’t feel that way. be the case here, the way the guys beaten to the end, the joy in the locker room at the back, the camaraderie, the high fives, the hugs.”

Still, it’s hard to ignore the fact that this has been one of the most disappointing seasons in recent years for the Jaguars. Perhaps the team could benefit from a change as it attempts to return to the playoffs in 2025 and beyond.

Pederson will have his final chance to prove he deserves to stay in Jacksonville when the team closes out the 2024 season on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
