Temasek’s Azalea Announces Retirement of CEO Margaret Lui; CIO Chue En Yaw to succeed him

Retirement of CEO Margaret Lui will mark end of 40-year career with Temasek Group

Azalea Margaret Lui, chief executive of Investment Management, will retire on March 31.

Chief Investment Officer Chue En Yaw will take the helm while retaining his CIO responsibilities, effective April 1, Azalea announced Thursday (January 16).

He, who was CEO of Azalea since its inception in 2015, will remain a member of the investment committees of existing Altrium funds after his retirement, which marks the end of his 40-year career with the Temasek Group.

Under his leadership, Azalea launched the Astrea PE Bonds and Altrium PE Fund, and currently manages approximately $11 billion in assets.

Chue has played a key role in building the Astrea platform since his involvement in Astrea II while at Temasek.

Since joining Azalea in 2018, he has also led the development of the Altrium platform, providing accredited investors access to high-performing private equity funds globally.

“En Yaw has demonstrated exceptional leadership in growing Azalea’s assets under management and establishing Azalea’s reputation in the market. I am delighted to hand over the reins to him and am committed to working closely with the board and En Yaw to achieve a smooth transition,” Lui said.

In addition to announcing its succession plans, the company also celebrated its 10th anniversary by hosting a dinner at which Temasek Trust Chairman Ho Ching was the guest of honor.

“The Azalea team rose to the challenge: innovating and developing solutions even as market conditions changed,” said Ho. “Continue to embrace change with courage and conviction, with vision and determination, to create value with a clear eye for current and future generations. »
