Putin says Trump will find solution to war

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the president-elect Donald Trump On Thursday, he called him “smart,” congratulating him on his election victory and saying he believed Trump would “find a solution” to the problem. Ukraine-Russia War.

“As far as I imagine the re-elected president, he is actually an intelligent person, already very experienced. I think he will find a solution,” Putin said of Trump during a visit to Kazakhstan.

In Putin’s first remarks since Trump beat the vice president Kamala Harris in November, the Russian president declared his readiness for dialogue between Russia and the United States. Putin reiterated his previous conditions for ending the conflict, insisting that Ukraine should end its NATO ambitions and withdraw its troops from four regions claimed by Russia.

“He behaved, in my opinion, very correctly, courageously, like a real man,” Putin also said of Trump on Thursday. “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him on his election.”

The Russian president said Trump’s remarks during the election campaign about restoring relations with Russia were worth heeding. Trump, during his campaign, insisted that he could quickly bring peace to Ukraine.

“What was said about the desire to restore relations with Russia, to end the Ukrainian crisis, in my opinion, deserves at least attention,” Putin said.

Putin, speaking for several hours Thursday, also criticized Western leaders for “adventurism” and accused the West of pushing the world toward a “dangerous line” by trying to oppose Russia. The war between Ukraine and Russia saw a significant escalation in 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine. Since the invasion, there have been hundreds of thousands of casualties, making it the deadliest conflict since World War II.
