MSP arrests 3 people, including a minor, in connection with illegal car gathering in Laurel

LAUREL, Md. — A car rally in Laurel, Md., was broken up on New Year’s Eve by Maryland State Police.

Four people, including a 16-year-old boy, were arrested in connection with the gathering.

From 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., members of the Auto Rally Task Force organized a coordinated effort in response to a large-scale illegal automobile rally that would attract drivers from Maryland and neighboring states.

This gathering reportedly resulted in road closures and car-related disruptive activity in some industrial areas, public streets and parking lots in the Prince George’s County and Baltimore areas.

Authorities say the coordinated effort led to four large-scale driving events being dismantled and five others being prevented from forming in Baltimore, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George’s counties and Baltimore City.

The suspects were arrested at an event at Konterra Drive and Schweitzer Lane in Laurel just after 12:30 a.m.

Adin Carr, 20, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a loaded handgun in a vehicle and other firearms offenses.

Carr also had several outstanding warrants prior to his arrest.

Another man, Aberom Alem, 23, was arrested while trying to flee the area and was later charged accordingly.
