Automated windows at New York’s Aritzia stores appear to be doing the ‘Trump dance’

Animatronic down jackets in the windows of trendy women’s clothing store Aritzia in Manhattan seems to do the viral “Trump Dance” — probably without the knowledge of the “woke” channel superiors.

The flickering of automated advertising displays – apparently in the manner of the president-elect’s very popular movements during the election campaign – received positive reviews Passerby Sunday.

“It gets attention,” said a tourist named Chris who was outside the brand’s Fifth Avenue store with his family from West Palm Beach, Florida.

Kam, Chris’s wife, said: “And if that’s the case (the Trump dance), it’s no big deal.

“You can love him or hate him,” she said.

Another passerby said: “There is a new president, so (the display) is not bad for us.

“Maybe it’s for some people.”

The Vancouver, Canada-based brand — which donated $100,000 to Black Lives Matter and the NAACP in 2020 — is unlikely to be aware that the display references Trump.

A source with knowledge of the company’s exhibits told the Post that the chain views the animatronic gestures as “definitely just generic dance moves” that are “not intended to imitate anything or anyone.”

But some of the dozens of passersby who stopped at the Fifth Avenue store to take photos with the displays weren’t convinced.

“I definitely see it,” said Ray, a tourist from Los Angeles, when a Post reporter pointed out the similarities between Trump dancing and supermodels.

Caroline, a resident of Baltimore, Maryland, said, “That’s how he dances,” before demonstrating the president-elect’s signature back-and-forth move.

“It looks like it. But I guess a lot of people dance like that,” she added. “Trump is just the one who’s in front of the cameras all the time.”

The larger-than-life mannequins were installed at Aritzia’s new New York locations: in SoHo on Nov. 26 and on Fifth Avenue — below Trump Tower — on Dec. 16, a store employee told the Post .

Animatronics performing similar movements in Aritzia stores at the brand’s Toronto store have also been reported on X.

Aritzia may have less reason to dance once Trump returns to the White House next month, according to fashion blogger Antonio Padilla.

He pointed out in a now-viral TikTok video earlier this month that prices of the brand’s popular clothing could rise under Trump.

The president-elect said he would impose a 25% tariff on all imports from Mexico and Canada as one of his first executive actions. according to the Associated Press.

“A lot of these costs will likely be passed on to the American consumer,” Padilla said.

“For example, Canadian brands like Aritzia and LuluLemon will likely see a 25% increase on their items once the new pricing is implemented. »
