For those observing a “Dry January”, consider letting the actor Tom Holland motivate you to continue.

Holland has now been sober for more than two years, according to the “Spider-Man” star, who spoke to Men’s Health in a interview released Thursday, and he spoke about those who supported him throughout his journey.

However, his initial decision to stop drinking was something Holland decided to do on his own and without formal treatment.

“I’m quite strong-willed. When I decide to do something, I really do it,” he told the publication. “I relied a lot on those close to me: family, friends, old colleagues, new colleagues, people who I didn’t know and who were also sober.”

Holland’s lawyer, whom he did not name, was also integral to his journey early on, during a moment of weakness, offering Holland what he described as “really poignant advice that helped me get through everything.”

According to Holland, the idea was: “You’ll never wake up in the morning after a night out expecting to have a drink. This advice really rang true to me, because my problem was that I would have one drink and everything would be fine, and then I would go too far.

Holland, who recently launched his own line of non-alcoholic beer called Bero, also recalled some of the work-related challenges he faced.

He specifically recalled his experience on the set of his 2022 TV series “A Crowded Room,” which he debuted in alongside Amanda Seyfried and Emmy Rossum.

“There was a lot of animosity on that set. It wasn’t a very harmonious place, and there was a lot of arguing and butting heads,” he said, clarifying that the tension was not related to creative differences, but without getting into the details.

He added that he thought, “If I start drinking again now, with everything going on, it’s going to get worse, right?”

Holland also took a one year break to act after filming the series. He’s now back in action and was recently announced as part of the cast of director Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic “The Odyssey.”
