One dead in apartment fire

Kalamazoo, Michigan — One person has died following a fire at a Kalamazoo apartment complex Sunday evening, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

First responders were called to a residential structure fire in the 4600 block of Clayborne Drive around 9:11 p.m., police said.

The fire was extinguished at 10 p.m., but one person was found deceased inside the residence, according to KDPS.

The KDPS Fire Marshal and detectives were on scene and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, police said.
