FHP troopers crack down on drivers with wrapped, personalized license plates - WSVN 7News

(WSVN) – Drivers hitting the road for the holidays should be on alert as the Florida Highway Patrol has issued new license plate restrictions that target drivers with airbrushed plates, vinyl wrapped or personalized.

Since August, any changes to standard state-issued license plates have been prohibited because they may affect the safety features of the plate.

Police are now strengthening the rule that cites drivers for illegal modifications, which have exploded.

Adding tint to a plate could also give points on your driver’s license.

This new enforcement measure could cost motorists around $116 in fines.
