Haters won’t admit Jaguar’s new Type 00 concept looks like a modern version of the E-Type

Tonight, Jaguar released its bold Concept of type 00 at Miami Art Week, with the pair of pink and blue coupes previewing the Four-door electric GT to go on sale in 2026 as the first model in The Jaguar range completely reinvented. Much digital ink has been spilled over the Type 00’s radical look and extremely controversial nature. logo redesign and accompanying brand campaign – no matter what you think of the car, there’s no denying that it’s the most talked about Jaguar in decades.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of the Type 00, and while those who hate it won’t admit it, the concept has a legitimate design connection to one of the most iconic Jaguars in history. I think it really looks like how E-Type Coupe could have if it had remained in production for the past fifty years, and through the magic of Photoshop I have produced these images side by side to show just how connected these two Jags are. Now, these comparison images are certainly not perfectly to scale; we don’t have dimensions but the Type 00 is certainly much larger than the Type E and rides on 23-inch wheels, so I simply placed the cars roughly the same length in these pictures so you can really see the similarities.

The Type 00 has Jaguar’s longest hood and dash-to-axle ratio in ages, as well as a similar rear overhang to the E-Type. I see the E-Type in the way the Type 00’s nose drops sharply just ahead of the wheels, and the rear diffuser somewhat echoes the Type E’s exhaust. The Type 00’s similarly shaped doors create similar cutting lines to those of the doors and hood of the E-Type, using these lines to house hidden cameras and storage spaces. Jaguar also mimicked the E-Type’s hood in a top-down view, the Type 00 having a ridged panel with a horizontal line at the front and a perfect curve on the other side at the base of the windshield, all like the windshield section. nose between the edge of the hood and the windshield of the Type E.

There’s plenty of tumblehome (how much the greenhouse curves inward toward the roof along the sides) on both cars, and the greenhouse tapers nicely toward the tailgate on both cars. Both cars have a wraparound windshield, although the Type 00’s side windows are angular at the C-pillar instead of being curved. Additionally, from the top-down view, you can see how much the Type 00’s rear quarter panels curve backwards, almost in the same way as the Type E, and how the seemingly bluff tail presents in reality a lot of curvature.

The faces of the cars are totally different, expressive in different ways, but there are still things like the sharp line of the Type 00’s front fender that reminds me of the Type E. Again, the design of the rear of the Type 00 looks totally futuristic, but its rear fenders are just as wide and pronounced. The slightly bulbous, side-hinged tailgate of the E-Type coupe has always delighted me, and the Type 00 has its own weird approach to the tailgate, with that metal panel moving up and forward to expose the cargo area. loading.

So, what do you think? Am I completely crazy or are you seeing the E-Type vibes? There is a correct answer and she agrees with me.
