Mum shares what she received from her family for Christmas this year after going viral for sharing what was not on his list.
It all started when a mom named Jessica, who passed by @mooneyhamjessica on social networks, shared in a TikTok video how, on December 23, she went to Target and passed men and their children buying their wives “crappy last minute” gifts: candles, cheap jewelry, and blankets.

“We don’t want this,” Jessica says in the video as she sits in her car. “You have 364/5 days to shop for us. Get us what we want. I sent Kirk my wish list six weeks ago, so help me God. If I don’t get something from that wish list and all I get are crappy candles and blankets from Target, I’m going to lose my mind forever.”
“This mom has been making magic happen for 12 fucking Christmases, so dads, come on, do better,” she continues. “It’s ridiculous how many fathers out there buy crap for their wives.”

Speaking to PEOPLE about the video, Jessica recalls that when she saw all the dads frantically shopping, her first thought was: “How sad for these women who are about to to be disappointed not only by thoughtless last-minute gifts, but also — what. Do they teach their children?
“These dads were only buying gifts at the last minute,” she said. “You could tell these weren’t Christmas presents or just extra purchases; they were THE gifts. I spent months, like most moms, buying gifts and storing in a corner of my brain what my family members want/need. I spent hours wrapping, preparing, and matching Christmas morning outfits, and in that moment it made me so angry that men could get away with waiting until the last minute.
“I know there are a million possible scenarios… but the truth is, moms have to lower their expectations every Christmas,” she continues. “I never want my sons to see their spouse as an “afterthought” or that their spouse should “lower their expectations.” ”

After posting this Target moment on TikTok, Jessica’s video went viral, garnering over 812,000 views and 3,500 comments. In the comments, TikTok users chimed in, sharing similar experiences.
“Mine always comes from TJ Maxx’s register on the 24th. This year he’s getting divorced for Christmas. Done,” one user commented on the video.
“My husband buys last minute gifts but he’s going to Chanel…so he gets a pass from me ,” another user wrote.
Someone else said: “The greatest gift I have given myself is teaching my young sons (9 and 7) how shopping for people. It’s an ongoing process, but I don’t produce humans who maintain this cycle. »
“When I saw this go viral, my first thought was that I wish I didn’t make it seem like I was afraid my husband would abandon me because he’s an amazing gift giver. When People started calling me ungrateful or asking to see what I get, it made me realize how lucky I am,” Jessica says.
On December 25, after Christmas morning, Jessica returned to TikTok to share what she received from her family during the holidays. From her 9-year-old son, she received a candle from Ulta, purchased on December 14, as well as St. Tropez and Good Patches tanning lotion.
“Yes, my husband was one of those husbands who took my son shopping to give me gifts,” she says in the video. “Very different from the dads at Target who picked out their only gifts, no gifts, something extra. It’s very different.”
“Plus, my husband gave me a stocking every year,” she continues, adding that he bought her favorite gum, candy and other treats.
Next, Jessica showed off the rest of the gifts her family had bought her: a frying pan, which she remembered mentioning last Christmas; a new Oura ring, which was on her list; a new handbag; and perfume.
“It’s my Christmas harvest,” she said. “I knew my husband was going to take care of me. He still does. He’s very caring…I mean the fact that he remembers that (casserole) from last Christmas, I knew he kept everything that in his head.”
“I hope you all got a candle, a blanket, if that’s what you wanted, I know a lot of you didn’t get anything and that’s something I hated reading in all the comments,” she continues. “I know a lot of you are widows or single moms and I’m sorry about my original TikTok and the way it came across as if everyone was getting something because I know a lot of people weren’t getting anything .”
