What will become of the old Woodbury County Jail?

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – People driving past the former Woodbury County Law Enforcement Center and Jail might be surprised to see part of it closed.

The front of the old LEC was closed after everything was moved to the new Law Enforcement Center in northeast Sioux City a few weeks ago.

It’s not because there was vandalism, according to Sioux City police.

Currently, Woodbury County has an agreement with the city to demolish the building and clean up any contaminants that may remain. Ownership will then be transferred to the city.

City Manager Bob Padmore told KTIV there are no specific plans for the property at this time, but it could eventually be turned into housing or commercial use.
