Sambhal violence: Samajwadi Party delegation visits detainees as authorities ban foreigners until December 10

The Sambhal district administration has banned the entry of foreigners into the district till December 10 in order to maintain law and order, a few days later. violence occurs following court-ordered mosque investigation. The order was imposed as a 15-member delegation of Samajwadi Party leaders traveling to the violence-hit district was arrested, a move criticized by its leader Akhilesh Yadav, who accused the BJP of poor governance . The saffron party hit back, alleging that the incident was caused by “criminals protected by the Samajwadi Party”.

THE investigation at the Shahi Jama Masjid mosque from the Mughal era triggered massive violence in Sambhal that left five people dead and 20 police officers injured on November 24.

In an order issued by District Magistrate Rajendra Pandiya, the ban on entry of foreigners, social organizations and public representatives into Sambhal was extended till December 10. Before December 10, no public representative may enter the district boundaries without the permission of the appropriate official.

Earlier, entry of politicians and social organizations into the borders of Sambhal district was banned till December 1.

SAMAJWADI MP SAYS ‘WILL ENTER SAMBHAL IN HIDDEN’

Samajwadi Party MP Harendra Malik, who left Delhi for Sambhal but was stopped at the Ghaziabad border, said the delegation’s visit would not spoil the atmosphere. He also said the delegation would sneak into the neighborhood if stopped by police.

“We want to go and take stock of the situation. We will also tell the government what happened there. The government should then investigate our findings. We do not trust the Sambhal police administration. We are “Our visit will not spoil the situation. We will not provoke people,” he told news agency ANI.

Either the administration lets us go to Sambhal, or we will hide. We will go and stay in Sambhal,” he said.

A SAMAJWADI DELEGATION DETAINED

Meanwhile, the delegation was stopped while its members were on their way to Sambhal. They staged a sit-in and protested against the order banning them from going to the neighborhood affected by the violence.

Samajwadi Party MP Zia Ur Rehman Barq accused the BJP government of covering up “police misdeeds” by not allowing the delegation to visit Sambhal.

“Unfortunately, the police arrested us. I condemn it. Who will make the voice of the people heard? If the police and the administration oppose the people, it is the responsibility of the opposition to help them. We want to make account of the problem (Sambhal) in Akhilesh Yadav But the government is doing all this to hide the misdeeds of the police,” he told ANI.

Akhilesh Yadav criticized the district administration’s order, saying the ban on entry into Sambhal was “a failure of governance, administration and management of the BJP government”.

“If the government had earlier imposed such a ban on those who dreamed of causing riots and forced people to raise frenzied slogans, the atmosphere of harmony and peace in Sambhal would not have been spoiled,” a- he tweeted in Hindi.

“Just like the BJP is changing the entire cabinet in one fell swoop, similarly, the entire top to bottom board of Sambhal should be suspended and removed for negligence. Strict action should be taken taken against them and a case should also be filed against them.” he said.

Responding to the Samajwadi leaders’ statements, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said, “Akhilesh Yadav should look into his own affairs. The Sambhal incident happened because of criminals protected by the Samajwadi Party. The Sambhal criminals are all Samajwadis. Akhilesh Yadav should apologize to the people. We will maintain public order there.

Meanwhile, UP Congress chief Ajay Rai said a Congress delegation would visit Sambhal on December 2.

“Everyone should stand up wherever oppression and injustice is happening. A Congress delegation will visit Sambhal on December 2 and brief national leaders about the incident, which was deliberately committed by the police and the state government,” Rai told ANI.

Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh said no political delegation would be allowed to visit Sambhal given the sensitivity of the situation there.

“Restrictions have been imposed in Sambhal. We appeal to the leaders not to go there. The attackers were brainwashed and included minors and women. They were instigated to do so and such an attack cannot “We are investigating the political angle behind the incident. We are on the verge of targeting the mastermind behind the violence,” Singh told India Today TV.
