Kolkata hospital says it will not treat Bangladeshi patients, ET HealthWorld

Kolkata: A hospital in north Kolkata’s Manicktala area said it would not treat patients from Bangladesh amid protests over alleged atrocities against the Hindu minority in the neighboring country. An official at JN Ray Hospital said on Friday that the decision was prompted by insults against the Indian flag by Bangladeshi nationals.

“We have issued a notification that from today until an indefinite date, we will not admit any Bangladeshi patient for treatment. This is mainly due to the insults they have shown towards India” , said Subhranshu Bhakt, in-charge of the hospital.

He urged other hospitals in the city to do the same in protest against alleged atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh.

“Seeing that the tricolor is being insulted, we have decided to stop treating the Bangladeshis. India played an important role in their independence but despite this, we are witnessing anti-Indian sentiments. We hope that others hospitals will support us and take similar measures,” he said. added.>
