Man arrested after allegedly confessing to woman’s murder at north Houston motel, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man has been charged with murder after confessing to killing the woman he was dating in a motel room Wednesday night, according to Houston police.

HPD received the call around 6:15 p.m. regarding an assault at the Moonlight Inn at 5212 Airline Drive. They said when officers arrived, Myron Lynn Stambler, 36, was outside and a woman inside one of the rooms needed help.

Investigators said when they entered, the motel room was a mess and they found Alicia Michele Stambler, 34, on the bathroom floor. She was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.

Charging documents say the suspect struck the victim with a deadly weapon, his hand, and then slammed his head against a wall.

Police say the 36-year-old suspect confessed to the murder. Records show he is currently behind bars in the Harris County Jail.

HPD said the suspect and victim were in a relationship, but it is unclear if they were married.

The suspect’s criminal record also shows that he has an extensive criminal record that includes a conviction for assaulting a family member in 2021. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault of a child in 2009 and served more than four years in prison for it. crime.
