Giants of New York: Jude Mcatamney at the college stage at the NFL

New York Giants, Jude Mcatamney, admitted that he had hardly attended the Rutgers University Pro Day which ended up winning a chance to kick the NFL.

The former minor goalkeeper of Derry Gaa of Swatray gave a goal to a goal on the field and an additional point of two attempts during his beginnings at the NFL against the Washington commanders in November.

He joined the franchise as a free agent not drafted after three years at the University, the first at Chowan University in North Carolina before two others in Rutgers.

In his last season at the New Jersey school, however, he was no longer the main botter of the team office.

With this demotion a “bitter pill to swallow”, Mcatamney needed to convince to continue to continue his NFL dream.

“The preparations had started for the College Pro Day, where the NFL teams come to your school to look at you, and two weeks before, I was sitting in my apartment in New Brunswick,” Mcatamney told Podcast Gaa Social Social , BBC ni Gaelic Games.

“I was at a point where I did not think I could. How was my university career, I did not think on paper, it was good enough to impress the scouts or coaches of the NFL.”

In the end, it was Mcatamney’s girlfriend who convinced her to attend.

“I also missed at home at that time, which influenced the way I thought and felt,” he added.

“She told me to do it, that I would regret not having done it. Quick advance of two weeks and I was in a good space.

“It was to do or die. If I did not give the kicks well that day, I would not have been lucky.
