Family search for Chloe Mason seeking answers over her death north of Brisbane

Exclusive: The family of a 23-year-old woman who was attacked and shot on a street north of Brisbane looking for answers about his death.

Speaking exclusively to 9News for the first time since the tragedy, Chloe Mason’s family are preparing for their first Christmas without her.

“She was the most amazing person you could ever meet, like she was someone you would want to have by your side in life,” said her sister Dani.

In what police say was a targeted attack, Chloe was attacked and shot dead after an altercation with two men.

They are believed to have chased her down the street, firing several shots, including one fatality.

“She didn’t deserve this, no one deserves this,” Dani said.

Her family said Chloe was considering a fresh start and was excited about the new year and the start of her new job.

“She was getting in shape when we last spoke, she was buying soccer shoes,” Dani said through tears.

Adding to their grief is that the family still does not know why Chloe was targeted.

“This is my little sister, this is my little sister, who’s 23 years old,” Hannah McKone said.

“There’s not really much a person can do to die like that.”

Police have not yet established a motive for the attack or why she was with the two men in the street.

A task force made up of local homicide detectives was created to try to provide answers to the young woman’s family.

“How can you get shot in the street and no one sees anything and no one says anything, in the middle of the street… it makes no sense to me,” Dani said.

“What if it was your daughter, your sister?”

The family has now launched an online fundraiser to cover some of the funeral costs.

“The last thing I can give him is a nice goodbye,” Hannah said.

“I never felt like home when she wasn’t here and I won’t feel like home without her now.”
